Our vision at Travis Elementary is to equip our students to manage the changes that the future will bring.  We accomplish this by guiding them to becoming independent learners and creative problem-solvers who strive for excellence in all areas of life.

We believe in authenticity.  What students learn should apply to real life.  Hands-on experiences that are tied to unit themes engage children so they take an active role in their educational process.  Learning through experimentation and discovery results in a deeper grasp of the subject matter.

At Travis, we have built a community of learners comprised of students, teachers and parents.  The school community is united in maximizing the resources available to families as they become active participants in their children's education.

The School offers an accelerated and enriched curriculum for students identified as potential gifted and talented in intellectual ability, creativity or leadership.  This challenging and differentiated curriculum addresses the special needs of these students.  Admission into the program is based on superior achievement on standardized achievement and abilities tests, academic grades and developmental inventories.

The Travis educational team provides a child-centered environment and a variety of innovative programs to serve our diverse student population. Spanish, Computer, Creative Movement and Fine Arts classes help to develop the children's multi-intelligence capacities. 

We also believe in providing choices in our classrooms where students are encouraged to become responsible for their own behaviors and develop the internal motivation to become successful in school and life.
